AAN-3B-ABY into Ur 1984

Hiya

before i start the resto of my ur.ill also be pulling out the engine witch eithr seized or the starter motor is nackerd

out of iterest would either of those 3 20 valve engines above be a suitable swap?..

how much woul i expect to pay for one of those?

this would only be a idea..unless my engines far to nackerd to repair...ill be looking for another 10 valve Wr engine

Any of the I5 20 Valve turbo motors would be suitable for the conversion, the 3B being slightly more straight forward.

Prices vary a great deal, anything from £500 to £1500 for an engine and loom ect, ABY motors fetch a slight premium over the AAN engines, 3B's are generally the cheapest. If I was looking to covert a UR then buying a complete doner vehicle would be my course of action, that way you have ALL the parts required and can recoup some of the outlay by selling on unwanted parts.

I'd have the head off your existing 10 valve motor first to determine what state its in, sticking with the original motor if serviceable would be the most cost effective option.
