car won't start, crank but no fire

Hello, I just bought a audi coupe quattro 1991 2.3 20V(i think is B3 in audi language) here in Canada. The car had 1 owner before me. I bought it last week. But the problem is the car don't start (this is the reason of the sell). The first owner spend a lot of money to find the problem without succes, the car ran fine until october 20. So I bought the car knowing that and telling me that there is no reason to not find the problem... After 3 days of trying to find the problem, the car still doesn't want to start. Here is the story:

The car turn over but won't start, I have fuel, but no ignition:
    I replaced:

    ignition coil (new)
    engine speed sensor (new)
    hall sensor in distributor (used)
    ECU (used)
Engine temps sensor for the ECU (new)
I also check every single fuse (all good)

    But the car won't start...
I saw that people are talking about imo, do I have imo in this car?

Where can I look at now?
When I retreive the code from the ECU I always have the 2111 and 2112, (engine speed sensor, position sensor)

    Thanks for the help.

    Check:
Crank sensor beside flywheel on gearbox beside speed sensor
Check flywheel and make sure pin has not broken that creates signal for crank sensor
    Fuse 27
relay 10 under steering wheel is operating
Distributor is lined up perfectly ...timing marks as below

Have you checked that the timing pin is still in the flywheel? if this is broken then the car won't start

        Some rather nice piccies there.

I'd be tempted to pull the starter motor out and have a look at the flywheel pin:

You might want http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quat...ywheel-pin.jpg as well then.

This one seems to have been sheared with the flywheel rotating backwards.

And another of the flywheel mark - this one's from an RR:

              And one off a 10V engine - I think a WR:

I keep meaning to do a separate index for the pictures - I've got a few hundred now.

Might as well round off the collection. This one's the early distributor - note that the rotor arm is NOT aligned with the alignment marks on the Hall rotor and distributor wall. They moved the marks later on to line all three up and that's probably the only version most people will see. This one's fine as long as you use the marks, but people who leave the dust cap on and align using the rotor arm get into trouble with it:

You're not likely to see one outside of a junkyard these days. There's one at the bottom of a duckpond near Alcester - go on, ask me how I know.

Also check for a snapped keyway on the camshaft sprocket.Even though it will time up fine, when the engine is spinning over it goes 'out' enough for the ecu to not play ball.

Missing/damaged teeth on the flywheel can also caused non start.

I have had both of these problems on 7a's in the past

It's a tough thing to check for, though. I like to fit the crank locking tool as a rough check for that if I have the time. Of course, you'll see the cam move relative to the flywheel too.

Thanks for reply, I'll check all that later today. I'm pretty sure the timming is correct but I'll double check.

Another thing: when I put the ignition on, I'm not able to toggle the computer in the middle of the speedo (from consommation, average speed, etc), this is not normal but I can't find the root cause. The switch is working (got the signal at the connector).

Other than that, the car is in amazing condition...

The car is now running, it was the early type distributor not well align... thanks for the pics showing me the seconde type of distributor.

I'll beginning to enjoy this piece of german art.
