I know so have Forced Performance for the Garrett range. It's just taken Garrett some time to get of their butt and make them by default.

The link reads from Feb'09, although mentions there is minimal improvements when using the machined wheel over a cast one. I assume the GTX-R advert must be referring to a newer design for the gains mentioned.

No much info knocking about, seems to be the higher end turbo's 1st then I'd imagine it would filter down the range

its about time garrett did something with their design of their wheels. borg warner and holset have done so... x years back

think if its not broke then dont fix it.

holset is in general a diesel turbo maker and there has been a need of late to update and compete with variable vain.

are you getting one then jamo?

If I was going to change then it would be a CT triple bearing turbo or get my GT30r uprated by Force Performance which adds another 50 bhp to it's range.

To be honest the turbo I have now is going to be way more than enough for me and should hit a pub bragging figure of 500 bhp

I've seen some strokers hitting 690 bhp on a GT35r which is crazy town. Problem will be being friends with that damn Chef may temp me to go to ludicrous speed whilst he's gone plaid

                    500 has to be enough doesn't it. i think..maybe.

gotta say even though i have only driven mine a couple of times it feels like it will be fast enough now. sometimes i wind the contrller down and its more fun as i can use more foot down.

the beauty so im told with the v band and billet is efficiency. im told i can have the same top end power with a slightly smaller frame and have greater efficiency at all points. so instead of boost at 4k i can have it at 3300 or so and get the same at the top if not more. thats the KPI for me in this one.

bad influences are great aren't they.

It is billett but the design itself doesnt seem that well....but maybe the picture is not good!
                      Go Holset or Go RS4

By looking at the maps, unfortunately the upgrades do not fix the issue of surging.

Instead of flowing more with smaller wheel we'd need wheel with upright surge line. Now the new 94mm comp wheel for example seems to be more eager to surge at midrange than the "old" one.
Everything less than 2 bar is considered to be naturally aspirated

As A80Avant says, it has taken some time.
Holset is making Billet wheels and special curved blades (extended tip) since begin '00.

I agree Jyrrki, if you plot your engine air consumption on top of the Garrett maps you quite rapidly end up in the surge zone or in a low efficiency island.
Surge boundaries on compressor maps are primairy moved by the use of a ported shroud by the way
