inside a tappet...

When i was doing my engine i had 56 odd tappets lying around to which i thought i must be able to get 20 that are good so set about cleaning them..
Heating them up etc which certainly chucked some old oil out but then i thought i wounder what they look like inside. i imagine its already on here somewhere, but here you go..

So then i knew i could get twenty good ones to which i think i did get they felt lovely. but for some reason i still went and brought another 20 from Quattro corner and fitted them although they was genuine they didnt look the same at all but fiited them because after all they was new. and thought when they go bad il go back to my lovely twenty i have made to feel like new.

just be aware that mixing and matching tappets can result in tap due to them wearing to the cams.

Mad thing is i did try wacking them and pulling with mould grips but the feckers just wouldnt come apart

lol i rememerb gonig to inters and was camped next to TSC (the poster on there) he's an irish guy IIRC and drove a corsa round site full of wood and a bottle of whiskey in his hand. that corsca was an easycar.com and they all pissed under the bonnet all weekend. lol

another from the south turned up wanting to find a rwd corolla to take home. planted big fireworks in the cabbage field behind the farm at bentwaters and had security in knots chasing him everywhere.

memories eh.

You can try...but from my experience..more than 50% off them wich i opened to clean had the spring broken. That spring is the main problem.

I did buy new ones and yeah i recon over 50% felt like the spring would be no good.
