  • New owner - simple Q's

Anyone know how much I should pay for the following (parts/labour):-

    Cam belt
    Lambda Probe
Front brake hoses (presumably, braded would be best)
    Rear wishbone bushes

I know there is always a debate about tyres, what are the best on 16" Avus alloys. I have Pirelli 205/55 WR16's. I want a good balance between grip and durability.

    Ta.

    Hi Mate,

    1) Lambda should cost around £55
    2) Rear wishbone bushes I've just ordered through Martyn @ www.VAGparts.com £9 each (give or take a few pence)
    3) Tyres. I posted yesterday www.mytyres.co.uk are doing (from 26.7.2004) Toyo Proxis T1-S 205/55 x ZR16 @ £56.30 each inc VAT and postage.

        I've had Bridgestone S03's (25k+miles) and I'm currently on Goodyear F1s (4k so far).

Next time round I think I'll go back the the S03's unless the F1's prove to last longer and hold their grip throughout that life.

            Thanks for that.

Unfortunately I can do the work myself, any idea of labour costs? I think most of the Quattro Specialists charge circa £40 per hour and I gues Audi (dont want to go there) charge circa £65 per hour.

Im struggling to get my car booked in to a spoecialist in London area, do you know where I could go. Depart for Italy first week in August, so I need to get it all done sharpish.

Just take it to any garage you trust. The car is not as complex as ppl make out. I work in a garage and would happily work on these cars as i do my own. If your local garage have good mechanics worth their salt, then there is no reason they cant do the work on it.

Here what you say Tom, living in London and having had a puegoet (can never spell that) Ive stuggled to find that trust worthy mechanic. I guess the basic stuff can be done by any mechanic as you say. I will give Autopool a call this time round though.

                        Cheers.
