    1.8t Coil Conversion

    Hi Guys,
New to the S2 group but not Audi brand. Doing the ABY into the UR at the mo and have found the thread regarding the 1.8T coils conversion.
    Number of questions are
1, Will this work on the ABY engine set up
2, Is it a worthwile route
3 Thanks for you help and lurve you forever....

I've a plentiful supply of 1.8T coil packs, even though the 06B has now superseded to a 06A part number.....
    thanks in advance....

    Hello again Chris and

As I've said the only major down side I'm aware of is not being able to use the cover.

On the plus side the 1.8T coils are cheap as the proverbial chips, but I'm sure you knew that all ready

Some ABY owners will probably be along soon to offer more advice.

Oh yeah mate, change the flag on your profile so everyone knows your a UK bod, don't know why default is the stars and stripe's. If you get a chance whack some shots up of your UR conversion, many of us will be very interested.

Search the forum or audiworld, well documented by the kit creator urs4boy

I wouldn't bother with the 1.8t coils they don't like heat and the S2 makes heat in the bucket loads

For me i've just bought the LS2 coil kit from efiexpress you can also make this yourself if you prefer and they are more robust than the 1.8t coils

I ran the 034 1.8t converion on my old S2 for a bit, as the originals were shot and I couldnt afford to replace the originals.
Didnt have any problems with them, plus the loom is 100% plug and play

You might want to start with this review of AAN (also ABY and ADU) coil options that I wrote on quattroworld:

            The Audi Enthusiast website. Forums for all Audis including A4, S4, A5, S5, A6, S6, allroad, A8, S8, TT, R8, Q5, Q7, 4000, 100, 200, v6, v8, vintage, local forums

If you wanted to go 1.8t, the Apikol kit is the best available, IMHO:

Discover Apikol's top-tier performance parts and expert installs for Audi, VW, Porsche, and BMW. Upgrade with OEM parts and enjoy a 12-month warranty!

*IF* you wanted to do the 1.8t (now 2.0t) coil pack as a DIY, you will need two Volvo four pin connectors (replace my re-genderized Jetta taillight connectors) (see photos below).

EfiExpress (Marc S of VEMS tuning "fame") has an excellent D585 LS2 coil kit:

http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/pr...products_id=18 (note caveat about some dwell issues that have cropped up).

Thanks everyone for all your advice. It is really appreciated.
The latest number for the 1.8t coils is 06A 905 115D.
Hope this is of some help and use.
                Thanks all again
