    Too rich mixture

I think I have problem with air/fuel mixture - too rich probably. The spark plugs get grim all the time and I have to clean them. Sometimes second sylinder doesn't work, sometimes fith and so on. I can't make the mixture less rich or can I? The spark plugs have only 7k km on them and are original (platinum). Any ideas what to do?

I'm not an expert, but I'm sure the rest of the lads will confirm that the mixture cannot be manually adjusted as it's controlled by the ECU - I think.

Question?, do you have a to-atmosphere dump valve fitted on the car?

Jamo, why does this matter? Would it do harm or what is its' importance in this case?

How old is your lambda sensor? if it is 90K miles / 129Kilometeres? old then it could do with replacing. It wouldn't do any harm.

Vadim, I replaced the Lambda probe and it paid for itself with fuel savings within 2 tanks!.

I could have bought a set of wheels and tyres with the money lost in high fuel usage

yep a crook lamda just allows the engine to consume loads more fuel and give back cra**y performance. I changed mine and its singing again and the fuel guage moves (a little) more slowly towards empty

Bosch reccommend changing them every 30K miles (used to be 60k) remember reading it in Audi Driver mag a few months back.

I think I know whats the problem. The tube between the wastegate and solenoid has burned in one place and was leaking. Do to that the boost went over 2,5 bar which broke the deamn by-pass valve again. When the boost is rising the car wants to jump so I have to drive very carefully until the parts are replaced. I think that when to boost comes and the car doesn't accelerate as it should do to those parts then there will be not enough air and the mixture gets too rich.

How can I make the by-pass valve more reliable? It was TT's but is there any stronger solution?

Use some piston model like Forge.

Air leak -> ecu thinks there is more air in the system than in reality -> too rich
