Ok. I tried to measure my coilpacks, but they were all outside the measuring range (max 20 Mohms). I'll have to find another DMM.

The coilpacks I have in now were measured at around 60Mohms and the ones that I think were causing he problems were > 90Mohms.
I have read elsewhere that cleaning the connections to the power amplifiers helped with some misfire problems.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Well, I finally got my hands on a top of the range fluke DMM, the 189. It has resistance measurement up to 500 MOhms and conductance measurement too.
Did a test on my coilpacks tonight. I was hoping to find one with readings that would clearly differ from the rest...
Not a single one showed up below 500 MOhms on the resistance setting! In conductance mode I got readings between 0 and 3 nS. The readings were however all over the place and seem to be temperature dependent. As the coilpacks cooled down the conductance readings dropped.
Comparing my readings with yours all my coilpacks seem to be fooked. The car still runs reasonably well, with only an intermittant misfire.
This is really starting to piss me off. I don't want to buy 5 new coilpacks (they're damn expensive) to fix a problem that only occurs once in a while...Markus

It looks like all your coilpacks might be getting to the end of their life if they are high impedance - this sounds possible if they are all original. Can you not find someone else with an S2 and swap for a day to see if it fixes the problem?S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Just thought of another thing - I haven't even tried this yet. I found a website that showed the Power Amplifier Modules(that power the coilpacks) should have a good thermal paste between them and the metal bulkhead - this is to keep them cool. Worth checking - I'll check mine as well. I know I have had one replaced and I bet it never had new paste put behind it.

Have you got that BMW part no by any chance?

OEM coilpacks and HT leads are also available directly from Beru.
Be careful with those BMW HT leads, some of them have a different resistance rating than the stock Audi ones (which are 5 kOhms).Markus

Did any of You tried Volvo coilpacks ?

Doug, this is the site correct? http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6ngsr/S6POS.htm
i would highly recommend doing that. I checked mine this weekend and there's NO paste. After driving around for 5 minutes, they were already warm, so cooling these things down is definitely an important issue.
Albert, you can use Volvo coilpacks?Comment

by the way guys the spark plug connectors can be purchased from the United States for less than you guys pay there. www.alleurasianautoparts.com has them for $7 USD which is like 4 GBP or less.Comment

Beru or Prenco is better ?
As You can see on the pic, it is posible to use Volvo ones but I don't know the details yet.AKmotorsport.net - Manufacturing Motorsport parts that do the job. | Audi S2 on Facebook | Best way of reaching me is sending email to albert@akmotorsport.netComment
