can you get oppersite hand turbos?

been looking at a few opitions to turbo my v8,

o/s not really a problem as most turbos seem to favour this orientation, however the the opppersite side a almost need a mirror image,

does anyone have a simple soulution or maybe some pictures of either side of an s4 or rs6,

i remember when i replaced turbos on an rs4 that the units themselves were quite a bit different from one side to the other

looking at TD04's, did they fit these on oppersite sides of the engine on differnt cars??/

    cheers
    will

I thought V8 guys and bi-turbo guys just turned the manifold upside down so the turbo spins in the right direction?

most bi-turbos are handed, although you could rotate turbo housings to fit if possible, then get custom feed/return pipes made up to fit

Yes you can - as I discovered to my cost many years ago when designing an oil and water distribution block for one that was being installed on this car....

...I picked a turbo out of the stores to get my dimensions from, and designed a beautiful machined block with cross-drillings to simplify all the feed paths ...only to find I'd got the wrong hand and the block was consequently all wrong.

Didn't have the same problem with the Audi/Bentley stuff, they just did the timing of the housings to fit the same turbo on both sides.

lol me neither ....now, if it was over the other side on Revett straight or at a far corner like Sear or down at the Esses (and assuming no pits to car radio...) maybe a driver could make a call to say he'd shunted ...but it's right opposite the pitlane.

You do at least stand above the cars now though! I can't remember what brand the turbos were for those old Toyotas, but they certainly did handed pairs with one rotating in reverse to the other, seems a costly way to do things when you then need opposite handed wheels inside them as well.

Why do the wheels need to be handed?

Surely the only differance would be the handing of the hot side everything else would be the same

the turbo will still rotate the same way
