Do adjustable cam gears (cam chain) need machining, rework at cylinderhead to fit?

    A little question:

Do adjustable cam gears (cam chain) need machining, rework at cylinderhead to fit?

I heard about some machining to head is needed to fit them into 20VT Cylinderhead chain duct??

Is this right or do they fit plug & play ?? for example Dahlback gear or Cat cam gear etc..

    thx

Yes plug and play as the cogs are the same size nothing changes. Bigger cams can require work to the head.

I have sprockets in stock, that require no mods to fit.

Catcams has sprockets with similar bolts as in dbr picture, and they hit the head, if not modified.

          @Repo

          sounds interesting...

I´m locking for something like that to adjust my both 7A CAMS...

but I do not remove the head at this time - so it schould be fit plug and play...

          price?

I would like to put a adjustable pulley in combination with a adjustable cam gear on inlet cam to adjust both cams in this way:

7A ex from original 42deg before UT and 3deg before OT to 47deg before UT and 8deg before OT

7A in from original 6deg after OT and 38deg after UT to 1deg after OT and 33deg after UT

goal ist to get a little more mid range power...

Isn't this both cams advanced 5deg? Only need external cam gear to achive that.

                Yes, i know...

...but i wanna play around a little with the the timing of the "overlap"... so adjustable chain gear on inlet is needed

...i also consider to throw the 7A inlet out for Stock ABY inlet...

                Turbocharger ist GT35 0.82

i also guess that the two present 100cpi cats are forcing to much backpressure...

Make sure that inlet flow is good enough to avoid surge with the GT35. I would keep the 7A inlet, but just my $0.02

Why would you need a pair? only need one for the inlet and adjust the exhaust via the cam wheel
