    AAN Starts but wont run

My S6 let me down twice yesterday,it started with no problems from cold, but after that it would restart but would not run it just stalled with or witout throttle, each time I riggled a few connectors and it starts and runs no problem. Any ideas

Any fault codes to speak of ?

Intermittent fault on G40/CMP perhaps - or maybe the crank sensors - or bad supply/earth to the coils - or bad contact to the POS units

It should blink same as a 3B - as long as you have black, white & blue OBD plugs.

I only have black and white ODB plugs no blue and they are under the bonnet.
I have just tried the car again and it appears ok at the moment but I still need to check it out.

S4s and S6s have a bulb holder connected to a cable hidden behind the instrument cluster. If you put a lamp in it you can bridge the white and black OBD terminals and blink out any codes.

How difficult is this bolb holder to find ,do you have to remove anything to access it.

You need to remove the instrument cluster which isn't difficult. From memory just remove the top steering column cover and the trim underneath the gauges, then you'll see the screws for the instrument cluster. You should be able to find the bulb holder in amongst the wiring, then simply stick a bulb in it and fit it into an empty space in the instrument cluster. Refit everything and you'll then have a permanent engine check light!! To blink out the codes turn on the ignition (light will illuminate) and bridge the white and black diagnostic terminals with a bit of cable for 5-10 seconds. The light should now flash up any stored codes.

The AAN don't like running if the MAF is faulty either. Quite often in the cold damp weather moisture gets into the plug and gives those symptons. I'd start by unplugging the MAF spraying water dispersant (WD40 or similar) into both the male and female ends of the MAF plug. Then reconnect them and see if the car starts and stays running. Alternatively the other issue I've come across with those symptons is the crank trigger and speed sensor assembly coming slightly loose. They are next to the breather on the edge of the block by the gearbox bellhousing. The two little 5mm allen keys have been known to come loose if someone has had them of at one point and not loctited them.
