    Still no overboost

Today i changed the lambda probe and recirc valve, my old one had a hole worn in the side (which got my car the name of Jimny Cricket as it used to really whistle ) . Since changing the fuel filter this seems to have cured the lean mixture problem as last time i took the lambda probe out and it was white-totaly white , and now it is a light brown colour . But is still doesnt seem as fast as it used to be, since changing the valve it has got good boost and does seem quicker than it was with the old valve, but i cannot feel the overboost. Could this be caused by the WGFV solenoid as i suspect it has seen better days. I think i am now leak free, all samcos on and tight, the Mark H intercooler mod is done and all the small bore tubing in the engine bay has been changed for blue samco tubing. Would a simple reset of the ecu clear any stored faults which still limit the car or would the car re-learn what it can do automatically.

    Still no overboost

I had that same problem on my 1993 ABY S2 just last week but thanks to fourrings I now have my overboost back.
I changed the DV for one out of an S3 and also changed the WGFV (which was rusty and worn looking) and this has sorted the problem.
It is possible if you think your WGFV is worn that this could be the same problem.
I purchased mine from VAG parts for about £35.00.

I hope you get it fixed soon.

The WGFV is next on the list, i changed the rear diff mount today (not as bad a job as i thought, it took 2 hrs) and the improvement is unbelievable, nearly all the noises and clunks have dissapeared and the car feels more 'tort' and smoother. Tomorrow i am doing the back end wishbone bushes to finish off this stage of my modifications (repairs really ). Paul do you by any chance have any pictures of how to remove the ECU (I havnt done it yet ) as this seems to be the most logical position to take a tap off the pressure system for a boost gauge, thats on the never ending things to do list but hopefully soon. I have removed the under cover and glove box to see just the bottom edge of the ECU but havnt looked at how it comes out, is there enough air pipe behind the ecu to tap into or are things tight. I have air con (also on the - to repair list ). Any help much apperciated.
        Cheers

There is no need to remove the ECU to fit a boost gauge.
Just remove the tray underneath the glove box and you will see the bottom of the ECU. On the right hand side of the ECU you will see a braided hose. Just chop this and fit the T piece. Did one a week ago(took about half an hour)
I think martinj posted a pic of his for squeley a while ago.

In your previous post you mentioned replacing the re-circ valve. Is this also callred a dump valve? I also get a whistle under hard acceleration.

Yes is it also known as the dump valve, the little plastic jobbie behind the headlight. I am going to put a jubilee cliparound the body of the valve to stop the new one wearing away like the old one.
