Cutting out at 4K

It may well have been covered before, but its sometimes good to start a new thread anyway!

My ABY is cutting out at 4K. Its not like the cam hall sender where it cuts of WOT until it reaches idle and then goes again (if you don't lift). I can't remember if it does it off WOT, as I ain't driven it in a while, but it cuts out at 4K rpm and 'hovers' there. It sort of cuts out and comes back in at around once a second. It wont reset until the ignition is turned off and on again.

Anyone any ideas? I haven't Vag Com'd yet as my mate nicked it to do something on hs RS4

Could be, but I think they are all pretty recent...

Always at 4k...could be a knock sensor.

Need to pull the codes...go beat your 'friend' up...

4k cutout is from overboost safety mode. ECU could be nursing an old fault. Try resetting the ECU (unplug it for a minute) then see how quickly the 4k cutout returns... Probably an air leak - or bad MAF.

I apparently have it back now, he took it to my dad last week but I am offshore until tomorrow

Anyone got a MAF I can try?
