    Advice On Upgrades

Can anyone help me with the following and please bare with me as I'm a complete novice:

I've got a standard RS2 which I got homefried in the summer which I was very impressed with. I've just had a new exhaust fitted ( 2.75" supersprint downpipe, 200 cell sports cat and a miltek cat back which was modified to be single pipe)

The car feels quick and loads lighter and responsive at low revs but the problem I'm having is the massive surge of power at 3000rpm seems to be missing!

Could this be down to my injectors not being upto the task as I would expect my car to be now producing more than 360 bhp which I think I read that's all they were good
for and would this stop it boosting properly?

If this is what's wrong could anyone tell me the best injectors to buy and if I need to upgrade anything else while I'm at such as the fuel pump and rods

    Thanks Paul

exhaust not big enough to flow to allow qucik exit of gas.

over 350 and 3" is the way.

Thanks mate as I said mate I don't know too much but with the existing 2.75" exhaust and homefries it went like a missile so I went for a similar set up as I wanted to keep it as close to original as possible and hoped for just a bit more power with the new exhaust but I don't understand where the massive top end boost has gone

I'm confused? The stock RS2 downpipe is 2.75 so why replace it with another 2.75?

A 2.75 system will do up to 400 you'd have to carefully measure back pressure and EGT.

I'd actually say your looking in the wrong place and your issue could be boost control. Check the wastegate and the N75 boost control valve is in good working order

Thanks mate I only changed it because it was ******ed and kept with 2.75" as I don't want massive power and had read 3" dp can be a bit too loud, the N75 and wgfv are almost new, only about 3000 miles old is there a way of testing if it's either of these

          Thanks Paul

Correct me if I am wrong here.... But by adding the Homefries ecu does this not also reduce the turbo lag and smooth out the power curve?

This along with a boost leek could be the issue....

Paul, I have a test kit if you wanna borrow it!!

Best thign is to get to a proper rolling road or tuner and get the car checked out properly. I'd suggest that the car is faster now but the power delivery is smoother, the OE RS2 map is well known for fairly poor lag characteristics that a remap can reduce considerably, just ask s2avant. The other thing to check for in order of importance:-
              1. Boost leaks
              2. Boost leaks
              3. Boost leaks
              4. Boost leaks
              5. Weak / broken dump valve

Thanks for the replies maybe I'm expecting a bit too much it certainly goes well and sounds good it just feels down a bit down on power in the higher gears I'll check for leaks.

Thanks Ken any chance you can show me how the boost kit works mate

                  Cheers Paul

Have you got a boost gauge fitted?

If the weather is OK on Saturday I can do you a boost test if you want.

Had a go at fixing Pauls car today, with no luck. We took it out for a spin and I could tell something was not right as it didn't even feel as quick as mine. I hooked up a boost gauge and we went out again, only to find it was only boosting to 1bar maximum.
VAG-COM'd it and got no errors logged. Did a boost leak test, both with and without the breather system and couldn't find anything. He has already fitted Roose boost hoses but all the vacuum pipes are original, WGFV and dump valve both new within 3K miles, also cleaned and checked the AIT sensor which was fine. I suggested he replace all of the vacuum pipes and see how it goes.
                            Anybody got any other suggestions?
Paul , could you ask Paul Nugent what version of the Homefry you have so we know what boost we should be looking for?
