Hy! I have just succeded to install and start an 3B engine mounted on an old Audi V8 in place off an PT engine..3.6 litter. The problem is that the tacho is not reading right....~1100 rpm in place off 850...probably because off 1 cylinder more...
There is some adjustment to make at dashboard or something to cure this?
Thanks!
Regards!
Eugen
I have the later Type44 200 clocks, same style as V8.
I can only see these switches on the top.
One set looks like some sort of calibration as its in %.
The other looks like settings for either diesel or petrol.
It is the red sliding one that needs setting for fuel type and cylinders. From memory it's not clear on the clocks what needs setting. If you're in a hurry I'd be inclined to try it on each setting. Not too hard to do as you can get the clocks plugged in and still access the switches.

Hmm..
Looks like the switch on the left is for Autocheck Coding (petrol/diesel and Country). The switches on the right are for fuel consumption correction in 5% increments up to 15%!
You might gave to look to see whethet the V8 tacho and five cyl tacho have different part numbers.
Actually you have a good point there. I seem to be losing the plot this last few weeks I should really remember the rev counter bit as I've just had to build up a set of clocks for my V8 using a set of 200 5cyl clocks for spares.
On the plus side I should have a 5 cylinder rev counter spare if you want it. I'll check the details on it later and compare it to my V8 one.

Right I spent sometime last night going through the factory manuals for the V8 (much to the disgust of my better half). The rev counter is indeed different for 5cyl and 8 cyl models. The correct rev counter for the 3B would be 443 919 253 AC.
From what I can work out the spare one I have is from an MC or 1B engine. I need to strip the cluster to check though. I'm not sure about differences apart from the red line and scale of the gauge.
I guess the coding plug will be different too as the computer would need to calibrated for different engines.

Thank You Ben! Sorry for the late reply!
Actualy i have modified the position off the needle at idle at 850 rpm by adjusting the potentiometer from the inside off the revcounter inself.
Dont know yet iff at higher rpm's will be acurate too
I will go at an Mot station here in Romania and i will cross check with the diagnosis tool.
I will post the results after.
For the moment the engine runs nice!
Regards!
