    Crankshaft washer?

I was checking Pauls Timing belt renewal PDF yesterday for the crankshaft pulley bolt torque setting, when I noticed the washer / spacer that he points out in pictures 8 & 13.

I can't remember my 3B having one of these when I did the cambelt and neither of the spare pulleys I have has had one either. On the FA it is listed as ABY only but after taking a quick measurement of the end of the crank, there is a gap between the camblet pulley and the aux belts pulley of approx 3mm.
It's also mentioned here as for the ABY

Can any 3B owners confirm if they have the washer fitted?

The washer spaces the cambelt pulley out to make sure it lines up on the belt and doesn't hit the oilhousing. So if it lines up and the engine turns over freely without then it doesn't need one.

what you will find is the cam belt will walk towards the head if its missing.

The infamous diamond coated washer / spacer... Yeah it can't be there just for fun - it lines up the belt position correctly - as stated already. No argument there.

I think it is ABY / ADU pulley only IIRC

That s what I want confirmation of, I don't want to torque the bolt up only to find it has to come off to fit a ÂŁ32 washer

We had this convo when you helped out on the stroker.

The diesel and 3B don't have it listed against them in the good book and we used it in the end on the stroker to be safe.

Be interesting to see if other 3B owners have seen it? I'm sure it's pulley dependant.

Its ABY/ADU/AAN only, 3B and 7A dont need it.

I remember discussing it, I just can't remember what we decided!
Your using the ABY pulley/tensioner and water pump so it sounds like you do need it. As I'm using 3B pulley/tensioner & waterpump, I'll leave it out.

Does this mean the evil Coupe stroker twin is nearly ready?

It's like one step forward and two back! I've now found out that the 3" down pipe I have is going to need too much work to make it fit, so I need to make a new one now
Oh well, all part of the challenge

best bet with this is surely to torque the bolt up to 100nm or so and turn the engine over a few times by hand and check the belt doesn't walk, then complete the torque-up to the 15Mnm or whatever it is?
