Hi all,
Good news first - Decided to keep the S2 and when baby comes along I will be driving her car to work and she the S2 for 4 days of the week and then I can take it for a quick blat to work to keep the engine tickety boo.
Now the bad........
Okay so two days after deciding to keep it had the car washed brought it home, polished from top to bottom to asses stone chips, scratches etc perfectly fine on the run to the handwash (only done that way as in the afternoon I was off to axminster - long run from rugby).
Okay start the car up to go leave to idle for a min and then caught something out the corner of my eye. Plumes of smoke coming from the rear. Get out have a look and yup lots of grey smoke out the back. smelt it - sweet like fuel no burning of oil smell. Okay Rev it a little and it goes away back to idle tis there again, rev again and hey presto clears and gone.
Next then. drove to Axminster (managed 30.7mpg on the way down and back
) left overnight started the next morning and the same. Started the car and went to sand behind it. timed it at between 40secs to 1 minute after starting for the smoke to start without reving teh engine. Cleared again after about 5 mins. Now not using water (other than a small leak on the union of the water manifold) not losing oil, oil is still clean after 1.5kmiles since last changed.
Thoughts. initial was Valve stem seals but that would smoke from the off. Unfortunatley now had anyone been able to stand behind to see if puffs on boost to off to see if turbo. But I am thinking tubo seals leaking when cold then taking a while to be pulled through the air intake system hence the delay to start smoking. Surely valve stem seals would be there straight away as draining straight to the cylinder???
Cheers
Aaron
