    RS2 Turbo

    In the thread re "Engine Upgrade" there is reference to the possibility of just bolting on an RS2 Turbo to a standard S2 with a stage 1 chip (in my case, one of Pauls' Homefries).

    My questions are:-

    1. Do I need any further re-mapping of the chip?
    2. Mine is a 95 ABY Avant - Does it have/require the metal Head Gasket?
    3. With a bigger Turbo, would it have more lag?
    4. How much BHP/Torque could I feasilbly expect?
    5. Where could I get an RS2 Turbo without going through the rip off dealers?

    Thanks in advance.

    1 - It would help, but not vital
    2 - It should have
    3 - Yes, but only a little bit more
    4 - I'm sure someone else did this and got around 300, but got a remap and got around 320
    5 - VAG Parts, eBay (there's one on eBay.de right now), Breakers etc

      My opinion on #1 is:

      - First: Expecially if you already have the "homefried", which will allow for much lower boost treshold compared to the std setup, using that maps the RS2 turbo will in some circumstances be forced to work in the surge area, which might damage the impeller;

      - Second: Using the bigger turbocharger without upgrading ECU's management will only cause more lag without giving the benefits of the higher flow and boost potential.

      Then, a bigger than ABY intercooler will help.
