    starter question

I am in the process of doing a AAN swap into a b3 90q and I have a question. The starter wires goes into a clip which clips into a relay in the fuse box. The problem is though there are other wires that lead into the same clip as the starter. These other wires lead to sensors and engine timing fuses for the 90 so I would assume its ok to clip them off. But I am not 100 percent sure and was wondering if you could clairfy? Thank you.

On almost all Audis the starter wire goes to the fusebox to pass through a relay that is closed when the automatic transmission is in "Park". This is true even for cars (like the ur-quattro) for which there never was an automatic version.

On these cars the relay is absent but there's a 7-shaped (or Z-shaped) copper bridge that the starter signal runs through.

It's actually very useful in cases where the starter solenoid doesn't activate - if volts arrive at the bridge during a start attempt, the problem is in the engine bay. If no volts arrive, it's another BLOODY immobiliser problam!
