That's exactly the bits I'm changing first this weekend. I noticed there was a film of oil on the outside of the breather so I'll be changing it and the two pipes either side.

      Valjo,

What were the symptoms with your car? was it running rough? overboosting? slower than usual? Has fixing this cured the problem completely? The reason I ask is it looks as though we have a leak in the same place.

ben: i will fix new clips in next hour, so i cant say if car will go better.
i have some problems with overboost but not all the time, and sometimes cars just dont go as good as it should. i dont know if thise leak was why i have those problems......
next thing i am going to check is MAF, lambda, and i NEED to replace sparks......

If your 'pop-off valve' is leaking then you will have problems for sure.

A new bypass valve is cheap from Bosch or even Audi - also renew the hoses and clips onto the valve.

Easiest way to access bypass valve is to remove RIGHT headlight,

              paul,
look like we dont understand each other. My bypass ventil is ok, i have problems with ventil named as flowregulating valve (named by sjm autotehnic). it is in breather hoses system

so FGV can be broken ?

                    Gentlemen please

Is the valve your describing the one you marked on the diagram above? That is the pressure regulating valve. This is the part which is coated in oil on mine so will be changed, along with the two pipes and all the clips, this weekend.

I also noticed (on one of my umpteen excursions into my engine bay when I should be working) that the hose that come of the back of the head into the t-piece for the charcoal filter solenoid (items 21 & 22 in your diagram) has a big gap where the two join.

I'll be sorting this when all the bits arrive (new hoses for this and the ISV, and new strut brace, all on Back Order).

                    Paul,

I know your thoughts on leaks. Do you think this could be a cause of my problems?

                      ben,

i just ordered the pressure regulator valve, and i will get it next week. my is complitly clogged with "oil send" (dont know word ). it has leak in diaphragma too.
i checked all other hoses coming from IM but they dont have any leaks
i advise you to replace all clips you have infront of IM if they are original. they will develop into leak sooner or latter.

Ben - thet gap certainly constitutes a hefty air leak by the sounds of things. You could probably lash up a temporary fix until the new parts arrive.

                          Paul,

I'll be having a go at sorting it this weekend. I think it probably just needs taking apart and rebuilding properly. The clip is a jubilee so it's been off before and not refitted properly.

To get to it I'm going to have to remove the strut brace, the last air con pipe and the ISV. Fun, fun, fun

                          Valjo,

I've replaced all the vacuum hoses and clips coming from the intake manifold already. I'll be changing the breather system and ISV hoses and clips next.

                          Ben
