    My S2 is dead

My S2 is dead, I was driving up the A34 and the car stumble and cut out like a stall.

Tried to restart it, engine just kept cranking and cranking, phoned tech support ( Terrybullwon ) we had a few ideas but still wouldn't start

Sat in car for about an hour waiting for RAC whilst blocking the main route in the city centre

RAC man ( who was a car nut ) went through a few checks

Opened the fuel line at the regulator to check its trying to pump fuel while cranking. Yep fuel present

Used an LED Node tester to see if the injectors are being pulsed by the ECU. Could not see a single pulse to the injectors

Getting spark, took out a plug and it was sparking fine.

Tried to start with easy start spray, engine fired but would not maintain

RAC took me to get my laptop and in VEMS could see an injector pulsewidth going out during cranking but still no LED light.

Check the CamWheel hadn't moved and could not see any movement.

Car was taken home and now i'm stuck with a car that won't fire, any suggestions?

Rusty I like you train of thought I'll put it on the list of checks and I'll contact my VEMS support to see if there is anyway to test and check that.

@Sonic I don't think so as my immobiliser cuts everything so I wouldn't get spark unless there's an problem with the Audi stock one, Terrybullwon suggested the one in the ignition barrel

Have you checked your earth connection? not sure on the wiring for VEMS but the injectors normally have a single earth common to all injectors as opposed to an individual supply, for sequential firing.

(CANT REMEMBER IF I HAVE THAT THE CORRECT WAY ROUND) It may be common supply with switched earth, the more i type this the more i think it is...

But if you say all injectors have gone down it would be a good place to start looking.

                Hope it helps..

You need to beep your injector wires from the oem ecu pin out and then through to the vems. This will show you were the signal is stopping

I had your prob too.. if you have spark, then hall is working and injectors shall work too. Jamo, check the fuel pump connection (wire, relay and fuse), check fuel pump activation, check the injectors harness plug to the main harness, check if you have +12volts on the injectors red wire or directly on the plug! If nothing of this works... there's an ECU internal problem maybe on the injector or fuel pump outputs.

                    Fabio.

VEMS is a plug and play replacement for the OEM ecu so be the same as how the OEM was grounded. I'll check the pin-outs

typically a blown injector driver shorts out, meaning you'd have a cylinder full of fuel. Also generally they dont all blow at the same time, so my first thought: check the fuses above the ecu (if the wiring harness is anything like the AAN for the urs4/urs6) one of them is for the injectors.

Cheers Marc, Mr Terrybullwon is also on your line of thinking:

S24 wastegate frequency valve, Idle stabiliser and Carbon canister. 10amp
S25 Heater for lambda. 10 amp
S27 ECU B+ and Holding relay for Mass air sensor. 20amp
S28 Injectors and Mass air meter. 15amp
                          S32 Ignition Coils. 20amp

I'll be checking fuse 28 in daylight

How badly f**king labelled is the fuse cover no wonder I couldn't see it

Very nice of Audi to "correctly and accurately lable" there fuse box

Bet you though i was crazzy on the phone saying theres a fuse for the injectors some where, when theres no lable at all!
