    7A flywheel problem

    we are having problems with the 7A flywheel.

    we used an original 7A and checked everything before fitment, even compared to the one aelred had done for me.
    problem occures with vems not being able to read the trigger properly and the idle fluctuating and running around 1500ish rpm and then shoots to 15000rpm and back.

    we tried bringing the sensors closer to the teeth and pins, with no success, as it still does it. Checked cam wheel and hall sender(new) no go.

    Still does the same and there is no way to make the ecu read the signal properly.

    ECU has the hall inverter,and it should work.

    any ideas?

    The pin used in the flywheel is non magnetic

      .

      The signals off the FW will be VR type signals...like a sine wave, the cam sensor is a Hall type signal...square edged pulse.

      Can VEMS be set to read either, so you'll have to make sure to set it for the correct signal type.

          Yes it's a fundamental setting for the primary trigger you set it to rising or falling

          Rising = VR
          Failing = Hall Sensor

                On the secondary trigger the setting for VR should be rising so that is correct

                  yesterday when the car fired up, it worked fine for a little while, meaning that the idle was off and higher but it did respond to changes.then after a while it went to the state that it is now.

                  im wondering if this has to do with vems software as well, but Marc didnt think so.

                  is it possible to update the firmware, with vemstune, so i can reset the ecu and put 1.1.27 back in just to see if this works again...

                    maybe best to verify the inverter on cam.

                    sorry missed the call before VAS. was with my boss trying to get new LAN sign-off.

                    my 7a is still here. it seems to vary the issues so mabe flywheel varies too.

                      how do i check the inverter on cam? i was never given anything extra to plug on the engine.
                      i thought it was in the ecu

                        What firmware? if it's 1.1.6x or 1.1.70 then you need to verifiy the config is correct against a working map as there's a few values that need to entered that aren't required in 1.1.27

                        Marc can confirm that for you.

                            it is i believe.

                            im interested in this too.

                            like i said on the phone i have a 7a sat here. the sensor on a subaru both cam and crank is like our gearbox ones. they required on one car more feed to them to make the signal better. thats with a LINKECU.

                            not sure how we combat the 7a notches as per the wiki.

                            do you run 7a Jamo?
