hi my dad has a 95/96 audi A4 tdi with the 1z engine when he goes to start it it will fire then cut out and the imobiliser light will come up on the dash. anyone with any help would be much appreciated. thanks ben

Ignition switch is screwed ..I had exact same problem on my tdi..easy job to do ..steering wheel off (disconnect battery so you dont get air bag light on dash)steering cowling off ..2 flat head screws in ignition barrel(covered with anti tamper paste) that hold switch in place unscrew slide out and replace

If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
