sent me a quote of 1330 + dreaded to

What does our remanufacture consist of?

Your engine would first be stripped to bare component and put into a high pressure cylindrical parts washer at high temperature with cleansing chemicals, this removes all carbon deposits and debris from previous failures and brings the engine back to a “bright” metal.

From this stage the Cylinder Block is re-honed and or re-bored, The Pistons and or Rings are then changed, Connecting Rods are then tested and checked and resized if necessary. The Crankshaft is then reground and or polished, the main and big end bearing shells are then replaced to suit the size of the journals, the Oil-pump is then reconditioned.

The Cylinder Head is first stripped down then go’s through the same strenuous cleansing process, checked for wear, cracks and for trueness then pressure tested and refaced if necessary. Valve guides are then checked for wear and replaced as necessary, as with the valve seats. The valves are then checked for wear and trueness, New/Refaced valves are then lapped into the seats then vacuum tested to ensure there is no leakage.

The Camshaft is then checked for wear and re-profiled if necessary. The engine is then reassembled with new gaskets and seals.

12 months / 12,000 mile warranty available (subject to conditions)

    Thoughts???

    Cheers

Just trying to get to the bottom of the smoking issue still getting vagcom'd this morning to see if that pull sup any red flags..... but looking for prices on a fix too. My local guy has said approx 1500 all in for head etc etc thinks the bottom end should be okay but if taking apart may as well get it done to get the engine to last a long time.

Also spoke to someone else who specialises in quattro engines and he said £5000 guess he didnt want the work lol

Azman I'd have a read of the thread linked here first and then speak to JP at JNL racing. His user name here is RWD19T. He's based near Luton so fairly close to you.

Magcom,d no problems flagged other than usual engine speed sensor (engine off) and 00516 tps f60 open or short intermittent. So no further forward. Wizard thinks it could be turbo or valve not seating properly. So what to do next. Any other tests I can do?

I'd recommend Aelred, cant fault his service and work. JP is also a very good option though.
