    cam belt rs2 servicing

    Hello gents,
I am the new lucky owner of a fantastic RS2 from 95. It is in perfect condition, servicing has been done regularly, and it is perfectly genuine.
The car is approx 150000 km and the cam belt was changed at 120000 as requested by Audi. Howerver, it was 7 years ago. Anybody knows if I should change it because it is more than 5 years old ?

In the users and servicing manual, only mileage is stated. Audi then started recommending a 5 year change interval for a number of years, but are now going that to mileage only on a number of models.
It is the kevlar strands inside the belt that gives it its strength, and they are not affected by age, only by use (tensile load and bending)
Starting the car stresses the belt, and the 5 year interval was likely introduced to cover those cars that see low mileage, but lots of start/stop, in addition to generating more business for dealer service departments that had seen a drop in income due to longer general service intervals for modern cars.

can you do it your self do it. it isnt that expensive. I would to be safe. remember that it is a diffrent belt and waterpump on rs2 than on a s2.

(gör det för att vara säker. billig försäkring. )

If you get a new belt make sure timing mark is correct on top sprocket.

Something about one tooth back from original mark.
Someone with more knowledge on this will be able to explain.

Finally, I decided to play it on the safe side...I will change the belt, I will ask Audi to do it, I haven't started yet to get that used with the car to do this kind of job myself and I am in a hurry.
          Thanks for the advices.

As far as I am concerned I would never take my car to the dealer as they do not know these cars any more they only work on the modern cars

Better a specialist and you have plenty up your way

Yes, I have been thinking about that issue that Audi might not be the best place to service those car, and you are probably right...
Then, I found a place, you can check the web site here .
I booked time with them. Anybody heard about them ? I had a very good feeling after meeting and talking to them, they are preparing fantastic cars....
