    Midlands 5cyl help

    Not happy at all

I checked the boost hoses last week on my S6 to find a split turbo hose. I thought at last i'd found my 4 year old problem of hanging back under hard acceleration. However after buying and fitting £200 worth of Samco hoses the car is still the same.

It has gradually gone from intermittant to mostly crap all the time!

Is there anyone on here is the midlands-ish who has the ability to wire it up to vag-com and log the readings during WOT???

It feels as if something is either making it run weak or retarding the timing

I would be more than happy to pay for anyones time, there seems to be quite a few people on here who know alot about 5cly audi units.

Unplug the ecu fuses after curing such an air leak... It is maybe still carrying some stored faults.

I'll give it a go tomorrow as the car has now been put in a corner to think about what it has done

But i have to say even before i replaces them i wasn't 100% convinced as the boost gague always stayed at 1.4 bar dead steady (been re-mapped) and before stayed at .8 bar steady while the power came and went. It feels electrical for sure to me!!

I work on Jags for a living and if this fault came on a Jag i'd swear blind it was the MAF, but this car is now on a brand new item and is the same!

Could it be faulty Throttle Position Sensor?? Or would i not get full boost then?

          Reset ecu first

then drive it with wgfv unplugged - if it pulls more than 0.4bar boost then it has had the wastegate messed with - this may not be what the ecu was mapped for.

Just reset the ECU, and its the same, with the wgfv unplugged it shows 0.4 bar, which figures as the car was standard when i got it.

Knock sensors or MFTS causing alarm to the ecu?

Thanks Jamo, i have changed both the knock sensors over from my S6 that runs well but still the same, whatever it is it;s slowly getting worse and worse!

It does feel EXACTLY like the sensors picking something up - could it possibly be an engine fault?

Could be fuel stravation, new fuel pump filter, relay the fuel pump so it's getting 14v, check the FPR is not clogged from old fuel.

You could do with running the car with a wideband sensor and looking at AFR.

I drive the car for a day with a fuel pressure gauge attached and the pressure is spot on! - Do these cars ever suffer from injectors????

                        whats a wideband sensor?

it shows you the amount of air to fuel ratio in the exhaust, if the car is too lean or too rich it will highlight this.
