1. Your sensor is 250kpa, so you can have max 1.5 bar boost or 2.5bar absolute pressure, before you go off the scale of the sensor. If you go off the scale of the sensor, you go in limp mode. This is the ECU-s mechanism to protect the engine.
2. Fastech is not a very good chip company.
3. I don't think you quite understand what is normal boost and overboost. Don't use those words. Let's talk just about boost in general. When you press down the throttle at 2500 RPM-s in third gear and hold it, you should have about 1.4-1.5 bar boost, and if you keep pressing it, it slowly goes down to 1.2 bar. This is because the turbo is small. If you want to have 1.4 bar boost at redline, you will need a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump, better exhaust manifold etc... also you will have more turbo lag.
4. 290hp is very optimistic. It is considered that 280hp is the max on the ABY/AAN engines in stock form. 300 hp is total ********. That is why I said that fastech is not very good, if they said your car will make 300hp, they lied to you.
And please don't screw around with the hardware on your car. If you start using a bigger wastegate spring or do other mods, you will make your car worse and your ECU will be also unable to lower boost if it detects a problem - means you can easily blow up your engine.Last edited by prj; 12 June 2010, 19:13.Comment

Save the grief and get Paul's Homefry.
1.5bar ultimate limit on K24, as paul told me anything more just turns the turbo into a hot air pump
My homefry runs at between 1.3 and 1.4 bar depending on revs/gear I'm in and with a partially ported head, no cats and performance exhaust kicks out 290bhp (on a nice cool day
)

Well, I can't say what is normal or not...
I can just tell you the limits - 1.45-1.47 bar is the maximum pressure you should ever have with a 250kPa map sensor.
If you want to have more pressure and don't care about your turbo, you can install a 3 bar map sensor and map the pressure higher. You can get 1.7 bar at around 3000 rpm, but you will be overspinning the turbo, and heavily shortening it's lifespan. The k24 7000 is very resilient to abuse though...
But yeah, as the poster above said, you should have probably asked on the forum before for opinions on which upgrade to get instead of going to fastech. There are quite a few people on this forum who can help you with better software or well, if not better, at least known to work by many on the forum, if you send your ECU or chips...Comment

repro = reproduce. "Do a repro" = make a copy.
