Have a look for recent thread on cheap eBay leads and software that works - just NEVER update the software or it overrides the 'trick' cable.

            Thanks!

IIRC it is using a gearbox from an Audi 80 which does not have a LSD :-( so it may be best to source one. What would you recommend? Perhaps there a cheap alterrnative one that is used in another model?

I am sure I read about some other nutcase using a gearbox from a Porsche 928/968 with an LSD. Cannot recall if the box mounted straight up to the 20VT motor or whether he had to fabricate something special for it.

The other alternative is to source an LSD from Quaife that fits the box you have. I think these only come in 016 or 01E format... assume you have an 01A box here which is in for the shock of its life now !!!

You need to write software from an S4 into the chips for it to run (this will make ECU not know anything about an immobilizer).
To be exact, it's the 27C512 64kb chip that needs rewriting. You don't have to rewrite the other chip.
If you have a programmer and an UV light or a place that does, you can rewrite it, I can send you the bin file...

So it is definitely the ECU which that is the problem. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised and very appreciative of the level of support this query has received. 24 hours ago there was some head scratching as to what it could be, and now there are clear paths forward, that's a great result.
We'll weigh up the options and hopefully see this engine running by the end of the week. Thanks again to all those who contributed, the internet really does bring together enthusiasts from all over. I’ll post some better pictures later on!

                              one word of warning.

that filter will detach from the baseplate where its glued to in no time. or the inner top cone will rust.

beswt to replace with jetex/kn etc
