erm, i cant remember if i had the same/similar problem, theres definately no oil coming from the turbo, but the intercooler has a fair old puddle in the bottom of it..

I would say smoke on start up is worn valve seals, oil slowly leaks down past them when the engine is hot, then on next restart it gets burnt off and blown out the exhaust. Its most common if the engine was very hot or driven hard just before shut down.91CQ20v - Gone to a new home

i never seen any audi engine smokes oil, or using oil, exept when the 3. syl piston are cracked, 2. too. even i seen engines done 400000km... ok, this engine in this topic i will rebuild because of the oilsmokeComment

Is it white smoke? (as opposed to black/blue-ish)
I had white smoke on start up and was advised by someone wonderful on here that it was prob the oil breather...
Make sure you buy a few correct-sized jubilee clips before you remove it... and it's an easy job to take off and de-gunk. Mine was clogged with oily goo. I also removed another length of hose and cleaned out the firetrap (which is like a coil of wire in one of the pipes) ... problem solved. Cost - half a dozen jubilee clip.SOLD !

I owned my URS4 for 8 years and it has always smoked, but i have always driven it short distances. Now my engine smoke is reduced significantly since I have been driving 20km on the motorway twice a day 5 days a week for the last 6 months, I no longer get a cloud when I start the engine or first pull like I used to. It only took a few weeks of long distance driving to fix itself.Comment

I have this occasionally on start up from where the previous drive I gave it some beans. If I drive sensibly on the next start up no smoke. What probability doesn't help is the 3" straight through exhaust, never smokes if I ever have a back box on thoughComment

I thought that I've noticed exactly the same scenario on mine but last week every day I had to to start up my car in the morning to drive out from garage to leave it for all day outside and start up at the evening to drive it back into garage, and cloud of smoke was coming out on every morning and evening start up ....
On my car I do have 3" straight through exhaust with back box on ....Comment
