    ECU Re-chip questions

    Hi All

Took my 3b ecu apart tonight to fit the new chips and map sensor I have, But inside I found a dreaded superchips chip I have swapped both chips (The Turbo chip looked like the STD audi one) and the Map sensor but I have a feeling I shouldn't have this diode soldered across a chip either is this something to do with superchips? is there anything else I need to remove before I plug it back in? There seems to be a few other components stuck down with this white silicone like sealer too

    Thanks in Advance

That is a Superchip addition and should not be there. I'll try to find out exactly but from memory they cut a track and add in that resistor.

If you remove it and rejoin the track you should then be back to mnormal.

Hold on.......Having now looked at the proper sized picture I'm not shure about that large component across the chip. I seem to remember fitting a much smaller one directly on to the PCB.

I'll ask my friend who is still there.

The diode should be there and the chip under it should not interest you at all.

Ok, I have just checked with my chum at Superchips.

He said that there are no other parts fitted to the ECU other than the chip. There is also a different spring in the wastegate, if the fitting agent did the complete job.

              Thanks all for the replies

So should I have the diode or not Its not in Knight Riders Picture?

That looks to be the only thing that's different according to the pics

In my spare 3B ECU, I've the same "mod"
I've try it with different chips and no pbs at all it runs well
But I'm also a bit currious about this "mod", if anyone knows ...

ps: I don't have this mod in my original 3B ECU

Well I plugged it in tonight and It doesn't seem as quick as it was with the borrowed ECU with the same chips in anyone know why that could be?

I'm going to ask if I can borrow that ECU again so I can do a back to back test
