It doesnt look too bad to get the IM off (famous last words!!) and Ive cracked one of the bolts off just as a test so feel a bit better that they do move! Im not too bothered as I always wanted to clean the IM up, so this will give me a chance, and the engine block underneath. Trying to think of other little jobs I can do at the same time when I've got the access. Annoyingly Ive already renewed the breather pipes which was a pita, but a doddle no doubt with the IM off.
The long reach allen driver I've borrowed off Jas is just too short for the access holes at the the back of the mainfold so I think I will need to get the fuel rail off to get access from the top for these bolts Not looked too closely at the lower bolts yet!
