    Advise on Upgrade

My turbo is on it's way out......oil in the intercooler lots of smoke on idle etc....
So i spoke to AET as well as just having it recon they have given me the K26 Hybrid option...it's quite a bit more expensive than the std recon but i'm ummming and arrring about it......i havent really got the money at the moment but i know it really needs done and i'm looking at getting some serious power. I already have MTM tuning and Miltek exhaust.
Have i got any other options to replacing the turbo? Any advise will be greatly recived.

On a different note, i know my fair shair about cars but never got around to learning the difference between a recerculating dump valve and a normal????

If you go for that one(K26/27), you WILL need an RS2 manifold and also will have to alter the oil feed line and water feed line. BTDT.

Well there's an open ended statement ! You'll need to get EXACT details on the specification of this hybrid turbo before anyone can make a half educated estimate on its capabilities. Rule number 1 - get as many dimensions as possible and a compressor map before you part with any money.

The RS2 turbo is a specially developed version of the K26 turbo for the Audi application.

A number of K26/27 hybrids are available which can produce serious power but they obviously have more lag than the RS2.

Get an RS2 turbo - its the trusted and proven way to get that sort of power without too much lag. The RS2 is a special hybrid of the K24 and K26 turbos - do NOT get any old K26 or K26/27 as they will disappoint you. A proper RS2 turbo carries the part number 5324 970 7200.

You'll need a bootful of other bits to make it all work though. RS2 EM, IC and injectors for starters.

          Good luck.
