Coolant Flow Direction

Just a quick one - What direction does the coolant flow when the engine is running? Out through the thermostat or inwards?

Comes in the thermostat from the rad into the block, up into the head and out of the head via the water manifold back into the rad.

The thermostat has a bypass which constantly re-circulates the water from the pump back into the block until the engine temperature opens the thermostat which simultaneously closes the bypass.
