Balancing the bottom end... how far would I have to go?
my point excactly. However i was under the impression that you can balance, crank/flywheel and pulley alone, so that whenever you end up changing pistons/rods you dont have to do it all over again providing that the pistons and rods are equal in weights and within parameters.
JP explained it a bit to me but i thought of posting here as well.
I've been round and round in circles with this one many times Ross. Whole lot + rods + clutch is the only thing that makes long term sense. Save up for it rather than rushing and regretting your decision.
BTW, you've chosen the same power band that I have concluded to be the optimum for the budget conscious...

How critical is the bottom end balancing? Would only swap the rods to H-beams. Of course I change new bearings and seals, but maybe also a lightened cr-mo flywheel...
