    egt temperatures

So today I connected my thermocouple to the vems ecu. I have the thermocouple installed in the manifold just at the turbo flange. My car runs almost always on Lpg so I'm trying to make 2 maps for the car, for Lpg and petrol. I havnt sorted out the map switching yet, its on the list. While messing about today I ran out of gas and went onto petrol.

The map I was running has timing about 3 deg retarded from ping on petrol at the top end, to be safe. That's about 15 deg total advance from 6k rpm up. The afr was was not as rich as I would like at about 12.2:1 or 0.83 . Anyhow the max egt I had seen on Lpg was 940 deg c. But when I switched to petrol that egt jumped and climbed to 1030 deg c before I lifted off! I was running the same map on both fuels, afr and boost where the same. As was power.

So I tried the same thing again and on gas I'm almost 100 deg cooler at wot! Even at idle I'm 30 deg cooler on gas, and I just can't get it to ping. Not even with an extra 10 deg.

So what is the max turbine inlet temp egt on these engines. Yea 1000 is a little warm but is 950 ok. I was running 1.5 bar boost, and I'm sure with a richer mixture on petrol and 2 deg more advance I can get 950 deg.

it all depends where your sensor is. 950C on the turbo hotside/ or EM collector is the safe limit i have been told, but you can get away with 1000+ if only for a few seconds

It's too lean for petrol at high revs tuning should be for 0.79-0.80 at high revs / boost to keep it cool.

Gas burns way better than petrol hence the lower EGT

advance as well has to do with your compression ratio. Less it is, more advance and boost you can run. if it doesnt knock, thats fine!
