Aby motor questions: active charcoal canister, speedo, reverse lights etc.

I am nearing the point where i can finally drop the motor in my coupe quattro(knock on wood). However there are quite a few questions popping up before I do so. Your patience with my post will be appreciated.

    First question:

I can't seem to find the active charcoal canister for the aby motor?
I have checked pictures, went through etka.

What type of setup is used?

My coupe quattro has it on the right side of the engine bay next to the coolant tank.

A fellow american who did the swap, I am noticing ran another line to the left of the coolant tank and to the carbon frequency vavle.

I am thinking this is my easiest solution?

Also.. My coupe quattro had the carbon frequency vavle on the carbon canister, and the wiring/plugin was on a seperate harness for the coupe quattro than the Hitachi/motronic harness.

I am waiting for a reply from some fellow people who did the swap, But I am hoping I can just leave the plugin undone, and rely on the aby plug in?

    Next question:

actually I am a little busy.. but I will get back to this.

    Thanks
    Josh
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

    Josh,

My ABY has the cannister inside the right hand fender, right at the back of the fender by the A post. I remember seeing it there when I had the wheel arch plastic liner down whilst changing one of the air con pipes. You'll find it on Etka ill. # 133-69 and 201-96 or 201-95 for the 3B. Goin the ABY will at least give you more room in the engine bay.

Yep - Martyn answered this perfectly well in American English (fender indeed)

The carbon canister is in a really stupid location on the 3B as it gets in the way with several jobs.

Suggest Josh follows the diagrams in ETKA for the RS2 Avant in regard to the canister and associated plumbing for the ABY engine as its much less confusing than the CQ pages.

The CCFV and associated wiring on the ABY is almost directly below the short flexible hose at the ISV which joins the pressure pipe to the IM.

      Good luck ,
