Uh Oh.... I smelt Burning Oil....

Ok so just now I went on literally a 1 min run down the road in the ur quattro, got out and smelt Burning Oil, popped the Bonnet and this is what I found:

Note the ring on the side of the Head in the last 2 Pictures.

    Any Ideas?

    Cheers.

looks like your rocker gasket is leaking but that ring looks a bit weird,is it trapped between the inlet manifold and the head?

Apparently it's part of the Manifold to Head Gasket thats not used/required.

Agree - had this, complete with smell of smoke when the oil dripped down onto the (hot) exhaust.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

You have to be careful not to over tighten the rocker cover especially if its the later rubber type with the crush washer type re-enforcements (unlike the earlier cork type with no re enforcements).

          hope this helps.
