    Aeroquip style connectors

I have been experimenting with some Aeroquip style connectors to use with my fuel system and have a question regarding the way they seal and hold the tube inside the connector.I am not using braided fuel line and was concerned with the way that the rubber tube has been cut into by the connector. Is this normal?

I have Aeroquip,Earls and some chinese made ones, and they all seem to cut into the hose the same way.I was thinking perhaps they are intended for use with braided hose only.

Yes they need the braid there to hold the hose fitting down its how they work, if you want rubber only i would suggest some push on fittings these have a barb to grab from inside the hose. But braided is alot better for use with fuel and these type of fiitings.

Once you have made one you should be able to swing off it!

Yes,the same type.My photo is of a copy, though.I have some suitable nylon braided hose that I bought for this type of connector,as I dont want the "bling" of stainless braided hose in the engine compartment.I was going to use the non braided hose for the gravity feed from the tank to the external pump.As you say,a barded fitting is most probably easier.

You can get black fittings if you don't want bling, if you don't have enough hose I have loads of off cuts here

Yes,I will buy some black connectors for the engine compartment, and use the brightly coloured ones I already have where they cant be seen. Thanks for the hose offer.

                  basicaly what these fittings are........~

AN stands for Army and Navy, any hose, any length made up in the battlefield.

designed for braided only im afraid.

the non braided non AN stuff is available widely but even the earls/goodridge stuff does the same thing to rubber lines.

you need to use the barb internal fitting stuff dude. (looks like /|/|/| )

                  hope this helps.
i used to build rallycars so this is all firmly fixed in my well educated head lol
