    potential power?!

i have a 95 ABY s2 which the previous owner has put a RS2 turbo, ex manifold, intercooler, injectors (i think), and clutch on. its got a K&N cone and forge DV. at the moment it is running around 365bhp.
how much potential does it have with these components, and is there any obvious individual upgrades that would make it possible to get more, and if so any recomendations would be good, ie if swap the turbo...which one to use, by the sounds of it GT2871R or GT3071R are a safe bet, do these bolt straight on or do they need a new manifold/downpipe/adapters?
finally really rookie question, what is the standard flange/turbo?
    cheers for your help

Sounds about right on RS2 turbo, you might get 15-20 more with a lot more effort, could be a good plan to leave the turbo alone and build the rest of the engine / IC / IM etc. to the spec required for your desired power levels.

Larger turbo is the next step really and that means that the list of parts required for reliable power will go up somewhat, 2871 won't give much more power but they do spool up quickly, although torque might not be as good. 3071 will give more power for sure, as will a correctly sized KKK, CT etc. etc.

Stock turbo is a kkk flange (k26 I think), if you want to go to the larger T3 flange then you'll need a new EM to suit.

cheers rusty, when you say list of parts for reliable pwer will go up, what are we talking?

Engine internals, clutch, IC, possibly a reverse IM, 3" exhaust, RS2 Evo exhaust manifold... etc.

looks like id better buying the fiance flowers and try and convince her that spending money on my car is a good idea....
just as an pointer, is a rs2 clutch ok? is it rods and pistons that need doing for the internals, and is it just the wagner intercooler or are there alternatives(also do you have a wagner IC cos my rs2 IC is about as big as i can manage with my bumper, are they much bigger?)

Top end of RS2 power is 380-400, you'd have to payout a lot of money to chase the last bit of bhp.

I wouldn't bother touching it unless your doing the mods in preparation for the next step

RS2 power is the perfect street setup

to hit 400-450 you need a bigger turbo, manifold and probly injectors followed by a remap.

like jamo not worth it imo unless its a target 500hp+. then its a 3k upgrade task.

slight mod to turbo, 3" exhaust and re map 400bhp and mental torque

and not worth the gain bang for buck.

it takes a fair few hp to go significantly faster than the said 365.

the "mental" torque means rods so an engine strip so may as well get a proper turbo with modern internals and make the most of FI.

Jay if you ever plan on upgrading you exhaust system I would definitely pay extra few hundred pounds to mod turbo and add more aggressive chips for 35bhp and 120nm plus increase.

Exactly!!! stock RS2 map can bend rods nevermind uprated.

I'll agree the 3" exhaust system is a good idea regardless.

If you do want to get a bit more do the exhaust and MRC 1.9 bar boost map

But remember your paying quite a bit for £/bhp ratio

its por bang for buck yes. i didn't want to get into a discussion with hoffer who may be trying to sell chips.

i said rods and stick by it.

for good bang/buck. sell the rs2 turbo go t04e with a t3 0.63 on a wagner evo. then remap. maybe mid 400's then. less torque curve so easier on rods. more top end.

all opinion this. in reality id buy the best turbo technology you can afford. turbo engines are after all about turbo's.

Think the point in this thread has been missed by some people, Jay asked a simple question (potential power with his components).
you could run 420bhp and 650nm on standard internals quite happily with minimal cost to this setup as the exhaust really needs upgrading anyway this would be my route or you could change rods, skim pistons fit a 3071 ect ect bill of around £3000 and have same hp but less torque

btw Gazza really not interested in selling chips and haven't bent any rods yet,
I have destroyed a few 3071's searching for old school kkk power.
