best stuff for AAT stroker block??

    hey friends

any suggestions or good experiences about where to buy great quality parts for build a AAT stroker cylinder block??

because i´ve heard of course that it needs some different parts than the original 2226 blocks... so where to buy the stuff??

    custom Rod bearings ??
    custom Crank bearings ??
    Custom pistons ??
    Custom conecting rods ??

of course i know that there are many companies that sells rods or pistons ..but dont know about them for stroker blocks

    Pauter,eagle,scat,carrillo,CP,JE,Wiseco.....

i know that for example Pisobiker build his stroker with Pauter Rods ...and now Jamo took it

i have "some" hurry for make a complete "to buy list" for it.so any help will be welcome¡¡

there is a choice on most of the parts you want.

its more about what you want to pay.

either way its almost necessary to have things weight matched

Reliable engine for 400-500hp I'd go with stock pistons and some of the shelf h-beam rods on stock stroke. Safe yourself a lot of grief that way. Stroker will give you more driveable town torque for that power bracket but a lot of expense to do it properly.

Either way any I5 that you swap rods/pistons out on will need balancing.

Bearings any good OEM sputter bearing for the RS2 I personally prefer KS.

There are some rods about that allow you to use the stock pistons on the AAT block but as to now I haven't seen any high mileage diesel block with low bore wear. As a general rule of thumb they all seriously benefit from an overbore so there is instantly a cost involved in machining and pistons.

Pauter rods are lovely items but complete overkill unless you are aiming for a high rpm high hp motor. Integrated engineering are same quality as scat and offer some rods for the I5. Plenty suitable for 700-800hp bracket.

Wiseco pistons I'd steer away from. For affordable aftermarket custom JE is the most suitable for semi reasonable turn around times. Wossners are OK for your power bracket but can do with hand finishing and their turnaround is pants. Ross racing are also a no no due to poor quality ring sets. And anyone else either quotes ridiculous prices or minimum quantities. If you contact Doug @ MRC he's going to be ordering several sets of rods and pistons for the AAT in the near foreseeable future. He's just waiting on some prices to come back to him. I'll be getting a set through him myself.

I want to see these strokers on stock pistons as every combo I came up with said stock pistons in a stroker gave a 10:1 CR

i think rwd19t was saying to run it in the original block as 2.2 and not bother with stroker for the hp required. ill look real stupid if thats not what he ment lol

                  I actually meant both options.

What you do is either keep stock and don't bother with stroker, or use a custom length rod to ensure that the compression/wrist pin height is correct for turbo application on stock pistons. Most rod manufacturers are quite happy to do custom setups as quite often you'll find that they cross reference to another make model.

As you'll find the Audi big end size is the same as a lot of yank tanks.

thank you very much for explain it

but aniway i am decided to build a AAT stroker with the help of one great friend ,because i dont want to miss the car during the time to build it.
i have not any hurry for it,i am very happy with my 3B engine and k26/27 turbo... but i would like to start another "spare" cylinder block with all new parts and take it as new or better¡¡ few to few.... and whem i´ll take it finished i´ll transplant it with a 7A craks free cylinder head.

i know and i understand perfectly your suggestion friend ,about keep the 2226cc block with oem stroke, because it is cheaper and easier to do ,and it is perfectly valid for 400/500hp and daily use with some track days or drag races. But i have here a spare complete AAT block waiting news from me and as i´ve said i dont want to miss the car for a month or more.....

ah¡¡ and if the block it is strong and reliable ,one day in the future ( ) i would like to know what happend with a 600hp car (if it is possible)

                    many thanks friend¡¡

do you know guys,a place in europe where to buy the specific JE pistons or anothers similars ?? because sometimes buy in USA it is so slow... with stupid fees

i am decided to buy 155mm rods,so what have i say to the piston companies for order the pistons ?? they will ask me about bore size, ceramic coated, compression ratio..... stroke too?? they have to know how tall it is the AAT block? excuse me for these questions, but never i did nothing similar

i will have to pay a picnic or dinner to S2Forum members with nice spanish wine and food for all the help
