    3b block into an AAN S4 ???

    Hi everyboy...first of all...great forum!!!

I just started a little projekt with a S4 AAN (broken engine). I bought it with a rebuild 3b block and a rebuild AAN head. Now as I started working on it I figured that the block is different from the AAN or even the ABY,or ADU.

So are you able to tell me rather I gonna be able to make it fit or not??? What are the differences?
besides that the deflektor roller of the timing belt. Has anybody of you done the before???

    thanks so much...

The block is the same. Only the timing belt and the other outer components are different. the crank is the same, the rods and pistons are different.

Put in your comps from the aan and the complete head and you will have a aan :-).

      Hallo Marco,
vielen Dank für deine schnelle Rückmeldung. Klingt in meiner Verzweifelung erstmal sehr gut!
      vielen Dank schon mal...

Hy...the 3b block is diferent in regard of timing belt tightening system.(AAN,ABY.ADU) have 3 6mm holes for fixing the tightening roller. The 3B dosin't. And the snub mount bracket fixing holes are missing at 3B. And...the steering pump holes are mising at 3B.
So iff you want to install 3B in an S4....will not fit. Iff you fit to Coupe..then is ok..
        Hope this helps!

Sory ...but i don't know what to do! Try to find an AAN block or reline yours...
I have succeeded to fit everything on an s4 with 3B block except snub mount...but not recomended. Sorry!

Yes, biggest problem is the snub mount, there is no spot for it in 3b block.

Also, if You do not want to change the timing belt tightening system to 3b, You need to drill and tap three holes to the block, which will go directly through to the water jacket, which is not good.

I would try to find an AAN block instead of using a 3b.

thanks a lot for the answers...they help a lot.
I decided to take the AAN and have it fix and than put it back in with the upgrade parts I have in the 3b...and open up a project post to keep you informed...I'm aiming for 550...
                  what do you think?

Good choice as the other problem is the front pulley is different and as these engines are externally balanced you can't just put the AAN one onto the 3B.
