2.2 oem engine vs 2.5 strokers

    Hi boys ¡¡

do you know if it is harder or easier to map one of both engines with aftermarkets engine managements like Vems,Autronic, etc etc etc... ???

or are both the same easy/difficult to do??

how many people here are happy with aftermarket ecus and 2.5 strokers ??'

    Jamo ,Billman.... helloooooooo

I believe that if you have a basemap then it is equal difficult/easy.

Problem is that it is easier to find a 2.2 map than a stroker one as there are more users. The people with the stroker with minor exeptions paid for their map and don't willing to share.

Either way if you go Vems then you are going to have a base map from us.
      Go Holset or Go RS4

Dude for any one who has not have looked at maps or who knows nothing about this. It is not a stupid question.

Thomas, it will be all the same. Your best bet is to make a choice on hard ware ie Vems autronic etc etc and then find some base maps or some one who is willing to help you and then start to play.

I didn't say it was a stupid question i'm asking why would it harder to map?

You don't need a 2.5 specific basemap, you need a good basemap to be able start and idle and then map from.

Repo mapped my car from a 2.2 map from Bram's build, it was good enough as a starting point.

You'll learn using other peoples maps if not ideally for aftermarket ecu's as the settings need to vary so wildly from engine to engine

Also mapping styles come into play, different tuners have different styles and a map with the wrong ignition timing is not good

This is the ideal start point http://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?pa...OpenloopTuning

                      hahaha

many thanks friends for the replies

i was asking it because a supposed guy with a lot of theory knowledge in L5 20VT engines said me this mourning that the hybrid engines like strokers ( AAT block + 7A or 20vt head) usually do not work fine . and they have a lot of problem to tune. he said that a 2.2 original block it is far better and easy to tune and usually are faster cars than "strokers 2.5" .

and he said me too that " wich are the advantages of the strokers" ??? he said "the people only make them to brag later saying hey man i have a 2.5 engine "

i was talking by phone with him and i said him that i know there are some people using it without not much problems i think and this man again answer me saying that " dont trust in the people of the forums because the people lie a lot "

and i thought "what the **** he is saying" all my little knowledge i learned came from S2Forum basically and for the moment i am very happy,i have a unknown car with more than 350hp runing very nice and this guy comes to me saying those things????

he said me too that if you want to go faster with a stroker simple as + 0.5bar with the turbo....... and he said too that stroker engines usually has many problems for rev more than 4500rpm ¡¡

after talk with him i decided at least ask here about the possible problems to tune with aftermarket ecus..... if not always we can expend nice money in travel to Uk at MRC or Germany PK Motorsport....

as i said many thanks guys¡

Revving over 4500rpm is a problem with strokers...

If you forget to convert from diesel to petrol

Longer stroke won't be the biggest fan of 8k but then you won't need to go that high because you have 20% more capacity and monster torque capabilities - that's the point!
