New Turbo, No water cooling, what to do?

Ive just had my Turbo back from a refurb and a hybrid upgrade, and it now has a stronger shaft than before and the guy who worked on it said that hes had to do away with the water cooling side because of the bigger stronger shaft and just keep it oil cooled.

The Question that I have is, what do i do with the now redundant water pipes? im guessing someone else here has had this issue, are there simple thread in Plugs that i can get to block them off from somewhere? anyone got a link?

don´t block them of, conect them together so the water kan circulate trough them instead.

I think blocking is better. why clutter up the engine bay, the 7a for instance doesn't have extra hoses running around the engine bay, it has a freezeplug in the block and no line coming off the water manifold. Blocking allows it to travel its natural course, opening that system allows for a cool line to go to the turbo which is good when you have a turbo that is water cooled, when there isn't why allow it to flow through instead of having ALL of the water flow through the complete engine. You allow for a path of least resistance, just like when you connect your hoses from the aux radiator, instead you should block those lines.

What the water pipes going to your turbo????

i'd have thought you'd have needed them joined together to let water flow around past what would have been the turbo section?

You can do it but I don't see the point. It is easier to block them.

If your turbo has no waterways then there is no need to run the water ine. Blank it of on the block using a stock core plug and blank the feed of.

The return at the end of the day collects in the waterjackets around the bores. And the feed is a take of from the side of the head. It serves no other purpose than to feed the turbo. Water still makes it round your head and down into the waterjackets, less clutter less likelihood of a leak. Just means you need the car idle for cool down instead of using the after run pump system otherwise you'll get burnt oil deposits in the turbo bearings shortening their life.

Exactly my thought the first bit, so is this core plug a VAG part that i can ring an Audi dealer to get?

and the second part with a regular service like mine is having every 5000miles or so this shouldnt be such a problem im guessing?

Never join always block, joining just creates a bypass route, same applies to aux rad etc

The core plug is basically the same as one of the other ones blocking the other water jackets. Probably have a couple of dozen still on the shelf somewhere just need to check if the 16v 4potones are the same as the I5's one monday as can't seem to find a part number on etka. PM me on monday to jog my memory to look for you.
