    Not a nice experiance !!!!!!

    ARRRRGHHHHHHHH
WHY ME? I've baisically snapped the throttle cable!
Racing a bike of the lights next to a jag XJ6, the bike and myself easilly infront of the jag......i was just about to change into second to catch the bike...lifted off.....peddle drops to the floor at the same time all my acceleration is lost.....luckly i was in neutral so the Jag didnt rear end me!

Though it's not the cable it's the plastic bit which the cable goes into at the end! Anyone know how much this bit is?.........hope you know the bit i'm talking about......i will upload a pic if i can!

i mean the bit in the engine the plastic bit which rotates on the throttle body. I bet you cant get this single bit and have to buy the whole lot!

It's not a separate part and you don't want to know how much the whole throttle valve costs..

Porkis is right if it's the bit I'm thinking of.

I'd recommend sitting down before you read this.

The 3B throttle body is £1229.35 + VAT. That's not a typo, it's one thousand, two hundred and twenty nine pounds.

I would have thought the plastic bit of most VAG throttle bodies would fit though.

Would love to get hold of some diags like that. Im starting to work out what stuff is called on an s2 engine but there are still a lot of gaps.

                Cheers

Yup, Item 1. Throttle Valve Adaptor as VAG call it. Things are a lot better if you have an ABY. They're only £602.50+VAT

Yep, it's the throttle quadrant as a racing guy like me would call it - and mine has been broken for ages! Some folk here may recall my tale of woe when I first started posting to this forum, and I found out the same thing as you - that you can't get it without buying a whole throttle body...

Mine is still held together by ty-raps and it works ok! I would remove it, measure and draw it, and make a new one - but the garage lost the nipple seat (the bit which breaks off the metal tang) ...so I don't even have all the bits to draw it now!

Did yours just break or was there an underlying cause? My throttle was stopping on a badly installed Jubilee clip, so the throttle was getting snagged before the pedal travel was all done - so a bit more pedal pressure broke it off. The bad news was a broken quadrant - but the good news was that I found a big chunk of extra travel to wide open throttle!

Baisically.....you know where the cable attaches over the plastic semi-circular bit which pulls open the throttle it's that bit there......
