Broken bougie, big piece has going true engine.

Today my car was driving on 4 cylinders.

I thought it was a disfunctional coil, but it was worse

A bougie was broken at the bottom end and that piece has taken a ride true my engine leaving some internal damage that we dont now at the moment how bad it is.

Has somebody heard ever that a bougie can break in yourre car.

I am very sad and mad that this have could happend.....

        Hi
        So bad
I have broken one on my race car but it was my fault
Trying éthanol with a lot of static ignition timing about 12deg ...
A pièce of ceramic destroy a part of a valve
Fortunately i stopped engine quickly so that was the only problem

There have been cases of that happening with *some* Bosch F5DPOR sparkplugs (bougies, Zündkerzen, etc) under high boost conditions in *some* high hp AAN 20vt engines. Not sure if it is a quality control issue or the extreme conditions underwhich those engines are running. Typically the hard ceramic does damage to the piston, the valves and, if you are expecially unlucky, the blades on the hot side of the turbo.

That said, I still think the Bosch plugs are the best for these engines. (Just my opinion, running them for 12 years (not the same set), 6 of those at RS2 levels (plus))

i have heard of this issue too.

its a bosch issue where the elecrode breaks. often weakened by re-gapping a pregapped plug i feel.

thats the reason i believe that NGK are favoured in the states.

heres hoping its not a needing a bore.

I have been to the store where i bought them.

Now i must put it all on paper and bring the paper and all the spark pluggs tomorrow to them.
They will send it to Bosch.

Then wait and see what they say :corey:

How much hours/kilometers have you run with these?
Did you mount them straight out of the box without regapping?
I guess you checked it before you mounted it?
