    help: camshafts choice..

Hi guys. i'm new here. and please don't criticize me
    i have RS2:
intake manifold wagner - turned to headlight
    exhaust manifold stainless steel wagner
    turbo gt35R 0.82 AR
    pistons wiseco 1:8
    valves and springs - ferrea
    cams now stock RS2
    motor is 2.2 L
    ECU AEM
    8000 max rpm
    1,7 bar - 437whp and 450nm

    on flywheel 538hp and 560nm

unfortunately i have one pic - during tuning - max rpm 7500 and 1,5 bar.
now i decide: which cams choose.

i don't whant increase the max rpm, because i have stock oil pump.
so which cams i need to buy?
i whant to increase hp and nm
and aslo i don't whant big lag between gears when i change gear on 8000rpm
i understend that my question is not 100% correct, but..
    and sorry for my English)

    hi there

motor sounds similar specced to mine.

i got sc6152 but im on a 0.63 stage 5. with the wagner stuff on stock pistons/scat rods though. i run 7a ex cam.

im not a cam expert but am interested in your choice. obviously solid lifers require some work too. so far i think the best road car punch was on stock ABY cams. for 8k though they are not good.

id say up the boost to 2 bar. go from there. i find that my turbo really comes to life at 1.7bar and theres good times around 1.9 bar.

It will have to be the 1002335 then as they are for turbo applications. When you check the cat cams website the ones for a turbocharged cars are highlighted in red.

Brider: call web cams and give them the run down on your engine. they make some pretty decent ones per your car

I strongly advice against Catcams. Had nothing but trouble with their parts:

A customer with Cat hydraulic ~270deg cams worn useless in less than 10K, another customer, same thing after a 20ish thousand.

My own Opel ohc project years back, cam worn out in 1000km.

My own Opel, valvesprings softer than original ones. Made complain, got answer: "they need to be shimmed tight"

A racecar, brand new solid camshaft snapped in two during installation. No warranty because "this is a race part"

edit: looks like i mispelled something or I don't know why I got impression someone was suggesting Cats. Oh, well. Nevertheless my advice is still valid, so I won't remove it.
Everything less than 2 bar is considered to be naturally aspirated

DBillas do cams for the I5 20v too:-

Expensive cams and solid lifters are a personal choice but there are some who have not gone that way for big power and are using S2/RS2/NM/7A cams on big power builds with good reliability as it's all OE parts. Check out the MRC600 build for an example of what can be done on hydraulic lifters. There are others too I'm sure.

Solid lifters, forget it unless it's a race car, they are a pain to keep checking and shimming

solids are not that bad. once shimmed and checked they last a good while in general. the type of shimming has an impact on this.

like you say jamo i cant see the point unless your a high rpm race car on the I5. they are however standard equipment on subaru ej20 engines after the 92 legacy. you dont have to take the engine out to keep re-shimming thats for sure.

4-5k reshimming is a pain, that's how often it needs doing on an I5

i don't whant use solid lifters...

my question is - which cams will be better then stock (for HP and NM)?
and is it true, that catcams has bad quality?

Retime the OEM ones, use a adjustable cam wheel and adjustable cam sprockets. Mine were done by Repo

You can use 7A, i'm not a fan of them unless you get them reprofiled.
