    00561 fault code again!

Manged to get my new lead up and running and have done some investigation into my perception that the alpinweiss wasn't running 100%.

After a spare, known working Lambda if anyone can borrow I one please.

One code familiar to me is:-

    00561 mixture adaptation reached (mul)

I've had this before, it was the lambada sensor. I'll be miffed if it's that again as the one on there, whilst 2 years old, has done 1-2k miles! Will try a spare MAF as I've now got 2. Need a Lambda that's known working...

I've seen the 561 error caused by a vacuum leak around one of the fuel injectors. A leak on the exhaust system before the 02 sensor would do the same.

Have some testing to do now that the new MAF is in there, see how that gets on...

Inlet is leak free, I tested the whole system the other day. Might double check though as assumption is the mother of all f' ups.

Out of interest what issues are you trying to find?

I'm driven mad with mine as its 99% right, just not the full 100%. Very frustrating

Little cough when coming on boost, nothing major, just wasn't as it should be. 30-60 times were a little off what I expected. I put in Shell V Power instead of the Esso Supreme that I have always used (without issue) and it seemed better and measured better also. Still has the odd flat moment (again small but I can feel it ) and so wanted to double check it all really

Just took the plunge and got a cable, been meaning to get one for ages but hadn't got round to it, so also a bit of fun too

Yeah that sounds like my problem, builds up boost and then feels kind of fluffy. Not a full on missfire, it just sort of holds back but it usually clears by 5000rpms and revs out ok. I also found by opening the throttle slower i can drive around it, its the sudden build up of boost when quickly opening WOT it dosent like. Recently fitted new coilpacks and a reconditioned MAF which didnt cure it, i too am suspecting it might be fuel related. Also found i have no issues at all running on standard maps, and the vstream just exaggerates the issue.

There are hours of fun to be had with Vagcom, I recommend adding another pair of diag connectors inside the car, i wired another set into the glove box so i can drive with the laptop datalogging, i've managed to get some interesting data on intake temps. One thing i have been trying to plot is the ignition timing when i have the above issue, i'm almost sure its dialling back the advance at the same time. Not sure if that's the cause of the above, or because of the above issue.

Fuel quality makes such a big difference in that rev range IME. Spare MAF has cleaned up the response, it's a bit flatter up top though, perhaps that's because it's not leaning out or somit.

How do you leak test the whole intake?

                    Cheers chaps

All seemed well with a different MAF on there. Did about 15 miles but over a few hours today in town with the odd 'clean out' along the way so will test again tomorrow. Car is smoother on this MAF but not as peaky up top...

I too found vag com very usefull in diagnosing a similar problem, it turned out to be the maf conection, but I've saved some logs of when its running well for reference,
hope they help, (these are 3rd & 4th gear)
