BMW M5 Maf being the same as a SQ Maf?

As my 450+- bhp S6 started eating maf's today i need to find a replacement that works....

And someone told me that the SQ Maf and the Bmw M5 maf might be the same, from looking at them on bosch online catalogue the one from the M5 1991-1995 seems very much alike.

I know its not plug and play, but still beats having a subscription on ANN/ADU Maf's

don't know if they're the same, but had one in my hands some time ago and was impressed by the dimensions of it. It's huge.

From memory,i believe the M5 MAF's are the same as certain VW MAF's (except VW's version are a third of the price) and the mounting clips are slightly different. Worth looking into..

You will need a full remap of your ECU.
You can't just put a M5 MAF in.
Also, if you put it in without some resistor mods, you will melt the MAF wire the first time you turn off the ignition. Not to mention the HUGE work required remapping every single little bit of the ECU without a MAF translation table. Unless you have your own dyno or endless pockets, forget it. If you skip this step, your car will run like crap (issues with AC, issues with idle etc).

I am working right now on a MAF conversion to Bosch HFM5 for high-flow applications. It required completely rewriting some parts of the ECU, but I am almost done. I inserted a MAF translation table, so any MAF can be swapped in, the only requirement is proper flow analysis.

        PM me for info.

Pretty much 100% sure your right i have had one heres some pictures against a standard Maf.

Its a big unit thats for sure i had to change a few pins around and use a resistor on the connector. In the end i sold it and made a aluminum flange so i could make my own maf housing. And then i changed to Tatech and not looked back

I am in the final stages of testing it. It will take upto a week, then the solution will be ready.
Until then, please do not buy anything.

                      Yes...
Managed to rewrite a lot of ecu logic and sneak a voltage conversion table in.
We need to test if everything runs fine using conversion (no codes etc)... doing it right now.

                          Yes, very soon now.
Need to draw up schematics + get it calibrated on the dyno.

But we have a car running on HFM5 now and stock motronic.

                              After this is complete, yes.
We have it working fine on idle, part throttle driving etc...

                              Patience.
Time is needed to develop a plug and play solution.
