Yes, it works. But I don't have a tune for it...
It is possible that there will be something available from 034 Motorsport using this tech or another company.

Have a 3071R tune, will have 3076R tune soon.
All the wiring is sorted, I have MAF connectors, ECU is calibrated, LOAD is correct.
High power cars still need live mapping though.

Basically this is ready to be fitted and mapped. No problem.

Incorrect.
Once I dial in the MAF once, anyone else, who can tune Motronic, can tune it in the future - they do not have to know how the MAF conversion works or how to tune it.
You should really not make statements about things you have no idea about, people might think it's true.

I noticed Porsche 993's and 993 Turbos use a hot film maf with very similar looking body to an S2 maf, as in it should bolt right up. Certainly the turbo version are good for 4-500bhp so might be an option worth looking into.

Strongly suspect that will be same HFM device - or same family of sensor anyway - there are a multitude of different packages/housings for such MAFs - not all suited to drop in replacement for S2/RS2 - which isnt so much a problem when going big style into such a cone filter as pictured.
