Can the turbo pressure be resized now with a MBC?
Yes, but you will likely not get more torque/power using this method, because of no overboost.

cranks always bigger repo. its the same here. its pub horsepower.

some here even select rolling roads that give nice numbers rather than heartbreakers.

the 355 is a slightly smaller unit than mine then. maybe over 2 bar boost will see 500hp with it then.

on the boost controller a mbc in the uk is basically a bleed valve or a dawes device. they work but not as effective as an elctronic boost controller. you will get more torque and power if you set the boost higher than factory. lets face it the motronic overboost feature is hit and miss but tyhe fueling is there for the 1.1bar all the time if you want it imo

they need to be carefully set as any boost device does.

go electronic is my advice. i ran the eboost with the stock motronic for a few weeks. it was the best it was in stock form.

My understanding was that crank bhp is a true measurable number whereas WHP is a theoretical calculation allowing for drivetrain loses from crank bhp, therefore less accurate?
Forgive me if I have misinterpreted

And you will get even more torque and power if you set both boost and overboost higher than factory.
As overboost I am referring to the fact, that you can have for example 1.5 bar at 4000 rpm, but 1.1 bar at 7000rpm.
lets face it the motronic overboost feature is hit and miss
No, it's not at all. You can map it so that it does not depend on altitude sensor and other things.
but tyhe fueling is there for the 1.1bar all the time if you want it imo
But if you map it to 1.6 bar and then taper to 1.0 at redline, you will have better power and won't fireball the turbo.

Damn, such discussions really make me want to code up and release a tool+hardware to map motronic's boost controller in real time.
It is so much more sophisticated than anything I have seen on sale:
            1) 3D mapping of duty cycle based on RPM and TPS
            2) 3D mapping of target boost based on RPM and TPS
            3) Protection against too much boost via boost cut
            4) Protection against knock via progressive boost cut
            5) Possibility using 1) and 2) to map boost to be the same in all gears

Name me one standalone controller that can do this properly.

i can say that the latest firmware of vems can do that, but whether it does it properly or not, it remains to be seen soon!

i must say that my experience with motronic vs vems in the boost department, vems is much more stable and reliable.

But VEMS is a full ECU, it is not a standalone boost controller.

But you don't have experience with mapping the EBC in motronic.
I have tested it extensively with different levels of boost, different MAP sensors etc and I get predictable results.
Anyway... I am going to stop spamming this thread with offtopic data.

It's just contrariwise. The dyno measures the true whp and then calculating the crank hp from the drivetrain and gearbox loss.
